Survivor’s Story

The Rifles have seen almost continuous action in Iraq and Afghanistan. This commitment has come at a cost. 59 Riflemen Killed in Action and over 300 with serious injuries including 29 who have lost limbs. Most have been caused by IEDs which cause complex multiple trauma. Some injuries are not yet obvious; evidence shows that psychological problems will manifest themselves sometimes years after the end of service. All of our battalions will continue to deploy to Afghanistan and the need for our help will continue for many years to come.
