CHARITY APPEAL
FOR WOUNDED SOLDIERS

James O’Shea

James previously worked for a charity assisting people with disabilities. Though he did not serve with the Rifles he lost both his legs in 1998 and was eager to help with the Just Rifles charity, bringing his experience, motivation and expertise to the team.

James’ accident did not stop him climbing mountains or becoming a professional dancer. A lucky meeting on a T.V show took James from dancing on Television in BBC 3’s ‘Dancing on Wheels’ to becoming a Paralympic finalist in just 2 years.

James was noticed by fellow competitor Mark Foster (6 times world champion swimmer) as a potential swimmer and Mark took him under his wing, developing him from a novice swimmer to Paralympic finalist. Coming 4th place in the 100m breast stroke final was a disappointment as he only missed a medal due to illness hitting James a few days before his race.

James is also involved in Headley Court Rehab, where he inspires people to get back on their feet through sport, even if they don’t have them anymore.
